Music And Comedy And Tech! (Oh My!)
Courtesy of The Star Online. Turns out that this particular Monday isn't that slow!
1. The Flaming Lips are now producing a Broadway musical based on their epic (and absolutely fantastic. Seriously, if you haven't heard the album I'm about to name yet, crawl out from under your rock and try that monolith thing everybody's been touching) album Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. This has been around the blogosphere for a little while now, but it somehow passed under my radar; in any case, it would be tragic if those evil robots win. So get out to the show when it finally arrives! (As if their live show wasn't enough of a high-budget production already)
2. As my affiliations with Just For Laughs and the comedy world are pretty deep-rooted (to say the least!), it may not surprise you that I'm particularly interested in Comedy Central's launch of the "Crash Course In Comedy" series. A number of "comedy instructional videos" have been posted already, and more are on their way.
3. Okay, so I totally ignored Steve Jobs' open letter to the recording industry a little while ago for a particular reason: even with a heavy-hitting mogul (by the way, what's with the "industry-shaker's" terribly designed bio page?) behind a cause, it ain't worth jack until the ball starts rolling. That is why I'm pleased to announce that EMI has officially lifted the DRM requirement on their music distribution through the iTunes Music Store, and will also be provided higher quality tracks for a premium. Still no Beatles, though.
