Excellent Extensions
I've got two Firefox extensions for you today. One provided by my academecially-minded mother, the other from my privacy-loving roommate.
My mom recently emailed me with a useful tool for writing papers and generating citations. It appears as if Noodle Tools is going the way of the caveman with the introduction of Zotero, an extension that works as a free research tool. It will gather, organize, and scan all online research you do for a paper, as well as generate citations in what appears to (or will soon) be a number of citation styles. More importantly, they're implementing such advanced features as bibliography sharing, Microsoft Word integration, and even recommendations.
Unfortunately, most online resources (except for peer-reviewed articles, I guess) aren't accepted by my university, and thusly Zotero won't be as useful as I wish it would be. Meh, I can't have my cake and eat it too!
The second extension is far less nerdy; it's actually more of a convenient tool. For those of you who don't have Youtube accounts, or just generally accounts at sites which require non-paid registration to access some of the content, BugMeNot provides an anonymous login which allows you to access the material. No more filling out forms just to reach those "mature" videos! On Youtube, of course...
