CollaboWrite!
Sorry about the lack of postage yesterday. I meant to be self-indulgent and write about the new thing I launched, but instead got sidetracked by a calculus assignment that kept me up until 8:30 this morning. Anyway, here's what I wanted to talk about yesterday:
I just started up this program for my college called CollaboWrite, and I think it's pretty cool (not to, you know, toot my own horn or anything). At its heart is a collaborative writing project, where fellow students can continue a long-form narrative that has been worked on by their peers. What makes it "bigger" than the one story is its inclusiveness.
Instead of providing a service for only those who wish to write a linear story, I've ensured the availability of two separate binders: one for shorter writing pieces (filled with loose leaf paper), and the other for anything else that can be done with a pen on a piece of paper (filled with white paper). Moreover, its use isn't restricted to University College alone; anyone at U of T can participate at no cost.
Also, if this quarter-semester's pilot run is even moderately succesful, it's my goal to use the inclusivity and variety of the pieces in order to publish a book -- at no profit to be made to my student government, the UC Lit, who sponsors the program -- through Lulu.com.
Tell me what you think! And if you're on Facebook, join the group!
